5 Best Staple Cards In Red Digimon Deck
When you build a deck, it is always nice to have a list of staple cards you may use in your deck. This is the list of the five best staple cards that you have to keep in mind when building a red deck.
There are five best staple cards in red Digimon deck:
Let's talk about them:
1. Red Memory Boost!!
Consistency is king, the quicker you get your combo pieces the quicker you win. If your opponent gets their combo pieces before you do, you will get an uphill battle from then on. Red Memory Boost!! digs four cards from your deck and gets you the Digimon you might need just for three memories. After that turn, you can use it again to gain back two memories, effectively making it only costs one memory. Very profitable trade.
2. BT8 Gurimon
Consistency is key, and one way to achieve it is by drawing. Gurimon has a very easy condition to get you a card, and that is by having 6000 DP or more. Level 5 Digimons (and some level 4) can get 6000 DP easily, meaning you can use 4 copies of Gurimon in your red deck to get some easy card draws. Gurimon also triumphs over other consistency cards by existing in the Digi-Egg deck. This means you always have access to it from the beginning of the game and not having to draw it first from your deck. Red Greymons might have BT5 Koromon which is their archetypal engine, but for every other red deck, Gurimon is their staple draw card.
3. Crimson Blaze
Crimson Blaze is a very good counter against decks that like to swarm the field with low-power Digimon. It looks like Crimson Blaze costs 6 memories to wipe out your opponent's field, but that is not the case. You get a discount for every Digimon your opponent has in play. Usually, this makes Crimson Blaze only cost three or four memories. It also has the additional effect that prevents your opponent from playing Digimon by effects until their next turn. Pretty cost-efficient card.
4. Fire Ball
What if you need a card that can be used for consistency or removal in one package? Enter Fire Ball. This card can be used to delete 1 of your opponent's small Digimon, but if they don't have any, then you can use this card to just draw 2 cards. That is a very versatile card for only 2 memories. Deletion up to the 3000 DP threshold is also important because all floodgate Digimon like BT3 Gazimon (which prevents memory gains except with Tamer effects) and ST12 Solarmon (which prevents play costs reduction) fall under it.
5. BT5 Omnimon
The last card on the list is not red (it is white) but it can digivolve from red, so it still counts. Omnimon found a home on many tournament-winning red and blue decks, dealing finishing blows to unsuspecting players who thought they are safe when their opponent seemingly didn't have enough memory left to make a play. Greymon and Garurumon decks are the original home for Omnimon, seeing that they can search for him and they also mention Omnimon in their text. Other red decks can also benefit from Omnimon's unsuspending and Blitz effect to finish their opponent after clearing its securities.
Special mentions:
Some cards are useful in any red deck but their usefulness is lower than the staple cards listed above. But you might still want to check them out.
Other staples in red Digimon deck:
1. BT5 Gaossmon
Hunter decks are decks born in BT12 that utilize the Save mechanic to reduce digivolution costs and evolve quickly to overwhelm their opponents. Gaossmon prevents digivolution cost reduction, which is very useful against Hunter deck. If you often play against Hunter decks in your metagame, consider including at least two of these blue reptile Digimon in your ranks.
2. ST12 Solarmon
D-Reaper decks and Xros Heart decks are two popular decks that use play cost reductions to maximum effect. Yggdrasil deck from BT13 is also the same. Solarmon stops them in their tracks. If you often play against the decks mentioned earlier in your metagame, consider including at least two of these yellow sun gears in your decks.
3. Gaia Force
Simple and effective, old Gaia Force was the staple of red decks. No DP limitation, no level limitation, you just choose what you want to delete, and boom! It's gone. It's now fallen in favor because decks now usually have their own themed removal that is more cost-effective than eight memories. Even Crimson Blaze, while it can't delete big Digimon, is often preferable to Gaia Force because it is cheaper to use. However, Gaia Force is reprinted multiple times so it is easier to get. So if you haven't got better removal in your deck, you can use Gaia Force as a substitute temporarily.
4. P-066 Huckmon
